In 1971, information group was created at the Institute under the leadership of N.P. Kreizo. Later, in 1986, information department was organized based on the group, which was headed by N. Basinskaya, which worked in three areas: patent and license work, information, and introduction of scientific developments.
The objective of the institute's patent service was to conduct patent research on R&D, research, filing applications for anticipated inventions and rationalization proposals, and formation of a patent fund. Since 1987, the work on patenting inventions and selling licenses for a new rice growing technology has begun.
The department staff widely used technical means: in conducting a patent search (working with display in KazRIISTI), formation of GSK on the basis of SASSTI. The introduction of two inventions provided economic effect of about 8 million rubles. These inventions form the basis of the New rice growing technology on saline soils (NTS). A number of inventions were in the stage of production of experimental samples (rotor of laboratory centrifuge, suction device for chemical pipettes).
At the end of the nineties of the last century, the information department stopped its activities and in 2008 was reorganized in scientific and analytical department. This department at different times was headed by Tokseitova G.A., Cand.Bio.Sc. (2008), Mamyshov M.M., Dr. Ag.Sc. (2009), Saparov G.A. Cand. Ag.Sc. (2010-2011), Vyrakhmanova A. (2012). In 2013, Tokseitova G.A was again appointed head of the department, who is currently the head of the department.
In 2008-2012, scientific and analytical department was engaged in the study of world literature and analysis of current state of soil and agrochemical science and trends in their development in the world and the Republic of Kazakhstan, developed recommendations on determining priority areas in the field of soil science and agrochemistry. The staff was involved in selection of scientific literature according to the priorities of research work of the Institute. They collected and processed special scientific information on achievements and new technologies in the field of soil science, agrochemistry, biology and agriculture. The department provided the assessment of patentability and conducting of patent research on the planned R&D themes of the Institute. Prepared and edited scientific articles received, the staff of the department made the layout and publication of the republican scientific journal "Soil Science and Agrichemistry".
Department staff participated in the work of the International Congress: “Natural Resource Management, Soil Health and Quality” (Samsun, Turkey, 2010); International scientific-practical conference: "Ensuring environmental safety - the path to sustainable development of Kazakhstan" (Taraz, Kazakhstan, 2010).
In 2013, scientific and analytical department was renamed into the department of scientific and information support. The staff of the department at different times: Kalieva H. (2013-2014), Mamaev D.Zh. (2013-2014), Salmukhambetova Zh.K (2014-2019). Marat S.N. (2019-2020), Bogisova T.A. (2019-2020) Aralbaeva K.A. (2008-2015) came to the department in 2022.

- issue of the journal "Soil Science and Agrichemistry";Provided services - providing employees of the Institute with scientific and technical information.

The library was founded on February 4, 1976. The library fund of the Institute of Soil Science consists of the main basic fund of the National Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, periodical soil, ecological and agrochemical literature, fund of dissertations and author's abstracts, reference, encyclopedic materials of the USSR, Soviet Kazakhstan and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The library fund of the Institute includes 15800 printed items, including books, journals, abstracts and Candidate and Doctoral dissertations, etc. The fund contains rare, valuable scientific books on natural science, as well as classical soil literature of scientists and researchers of the XIX-XX centuries, which was donated to the Institute by A.I.Bezsonov and U.U.Uspanov, V.M.Borovsky, Zh.U. Akhanov, K.Sh.Faizov, V.M. Kan and A.S.Saparov. The library fund contains such scientific works as Soils of the Kazakh SSR - 16 volumes, Soil fertility of Kazakhstan - 7 volumes, Proceedings of the Institute of Soil Science of the AS of the Kazakh SSR - 21 volumes, scientific journals on soil science, agrochemistry, ecology, etc., as well as journals of republican scientific publishing houses for over 70 years period.
The library of the Institute is visited by scientists and students studying in different universities of the country in search of scientific literature.
In the future, it is planned: to improve the quality of journal content, improve the work of editorial staff, strengthen communication and representation of the publication in academic community, entry into international scientometric databases; expand the geography of potential Kazakh and foreign authors, conducting research in the field of soil science and agrichemistry; work with authors (training; development and updating of policies); provision of information which is necessary for scientific activities of the Institute, their completeness and reliability, targeting and efficiency; etc.); digitalization of the library, i.e. the transfer of books, magazines and other documents on hard media into electronic form in order to preserve the originals and improve quality of services for the users.
